Bruxism, clenching and that teeth grinding is a movement disorder that has no schedule and is involuntary. It affects between 10% to 20% of the population giving both men and women. It is destructive to the dental structures, muscles and jaw joints. The main cause of this disorder is stress, a symptom common in today’s society, causing symptoms such as headache, feel tired jaw, pain in the masticatory muscles, wear on the teeth, among others.

Against this background the Extension Center Clinica Santa Maria will perform a free talk next Tuesday July 27th at 19:00 pm: “Bruxism, a bad involuntary” by Dr. William Flores, Unit Dentistry.

Dr. William Flores, Dentist, Dental Unit of the Clinic Santa Maria explains that “from the point of view has no bruxism dental treatment, what do the dentist to prevent damage by using intraoral devices and treatment of injury caused by the bad habit. ”

Another of the changes that can occur is the dental displacement in cases where the tooth relationship is unstable. For this reason it is recommended that at the end of orthodontic treatment is tested in the stability of the bite to prevent further displacement.

One of the most used is the use of a relaxation map, device that completely covers the teeth, and usually used in the maxilla. The patient should be examined periodically, and relationships of teeth and jaw position changes position over time and must be stabilized.

“It is a progressive phenomenon, we start with clenched teeth and wear them, they may feel headaches, joint sounds and pain on opening the mouth, and finally the person concerned may feel the sensation of having sand in the joint, because the structures articular bone is eroded, “says professional.

That is why if you have the above symptoms, you should consult a specialist in Orofacial Pain and Temporomandibular Disorders for a specific diagnosis of the patient’s condition and provide appropriate treatment. The dentist recommends having inspections every six months to assess the dental condition and related structures of the masticatory system to prevent, or take appropriate action.

Many myths and tips to overcome sore tooth that spread from mouth to mouth. There is a right, but not least also the plunge. All this is a result of the dentist profession which is still considered to be scary, and the assumption that a dentist must be sick. Therefore it needs to be straightened misconceptions about how to deal with a toothache, especially if the information is inaccurate and without any solid foundation of medical aspects.

First of all need to borne in mind, dental pain is not completed by simply consuming “pain killer.” Toothache caused by bacterial infection, and painkillers (analgesics) did not kill the bacteria but it can only help ease the pain that accompanies a tooth infection. IBHS is only temporary, after missing drug reactions may be related dental pain can be even more sick than ever. Or if the continuous analgesic medication each time a mainstay toothache came while the untreated teeth, and will deteriorate and die (become non-vital teeth).

So, toothache still need dental care in concerned, which is called root canal treatment (other name is a nerve treatment, or endodontic treatment). If necessary, the dentist will prescribe antibiotics and pain medication to speed healing.

But the attack came without toothache timeless. If you are attacked by an incredible toothache but can not immediately go to the dentist, then the following steps to try to ease your toothache, while the time before your scheduled visit to the dentist:

* Drink analgesic drugs that can be freely purchased at pharmacies, but the drug should not be given aspirin to children because it can cause complications.
* Gargling with warm salt water, by dissolving the salt in a glass of warm water.
* Do not consume food or drink that sweet, hot or cold or spicy because it can irritate the teeth and causes more pain
* If you have any clove oil, sterile cotton wet with a small rolled-up the oil, squeeze the cotton to remove excess oil, cotton and enter into a tooth cavity that is sick. Cloves contain eugenol which is widely used in dentistry. Eugenol is as antiseptic substances and local anesthetics, but be careful in its use because it can feel hot and burning when exposed to soft tissue.

Are not recommended include:

* Buying and indiscriminate antibiotic drugs without a prescription, because the risk for side effects or complications even if the use is not appropriate.
* Include any medications (eg, powders, let alone outside of drug that is not safe to drink) or other oils into the tooth cavity was sick, because not only has not been proven to be effective, this method also has the potential to irritate the nerve even deadly teeth.
* Treated as clear to the builders dental practice does not have official permission and have no competence in caring for patients, especially the care provided is often a shortcut that will be of harm to patients in the future.

Once again keep in mind, the tips above do not necessarily work for everyone and can be still felt sick. Therefore, despite having assisted with analgesic drugs, dental equipment must be treated by a competent dentist.
